The ORC/Ashokan Rail Trail 8 Miler

This is the fourth year of the Ashokan Rail Trail (ART) 8-Mile Run, which is run entirely on a well-groomed unpaved carriage path paralleling the beautiful Ashokan Reservoir in Ulster County. The race starts and finishes at the Woodstock Dike Trailhead of the ART in West Hurley, NY.

Parking (free) is limited, so we have a cap of 100 participants, and carpooling is strongly urged/needed.

There will be awards for the first man and woman overall, the top 3 in all standard age groups, and a commemorative item for the first 100 registrants.

The race starts at 8 am to beat the heat and packet pickup begins at 7 am.

This event is race #6 of the Onteora Runners Club 2024 Grand Prix and is open to everyone. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Woodstock Land Conservancy.

Towpath Run 6K

The Little Ones Learning Center, a FREE non-profit early literacy center for children 0-6 is conducting the 2024 Towpath Run, a 6K (3.7 mile) Race/Walk for Literacy, Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024. The race will be run point to point from Alligerville to Accord to raise money for the program. Participants will meet at the Accord Community Center to register from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Runners and walkers will be bussed to Alligerville for the run back to Accord. Walkers will start at 9 a.m., and runners will start at 9:15 a.m.

The race will be run along Towpath Road, a scenic, wooded lane with views of the Catskills, and up the hill from the actual towpath used for ferrying boats along the former D&H Canal. Accord and Alligerville were stops on the canal. There will be no parking in Alligerville and all runners and walkers will be required to be bussed to the start point from Accord.

  • Pre-Registration by Sept. 25 - $18, Day of Race - $20.

  • Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each of the following categories: 14 & under, 15-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over, Town of Rochester residents, and walkers.

  • The community center is located a few blocks off Route 209 on County Route 27, about six miles south of the intersection of Routes 209 and 213 in Stone Ridge and about four miles north of the intersection of Routes 44/55 and 209 in Kerhonkson.

Rosendale Runs Half Marathon

The Shawangunk Runners, in conjunction with the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, present the Rosendale Runs Half Marathon. Come experience breathtaking scenic views around every bend in the midst of the fall foliage. A mostly flat course that is 93% on an unpaved but well-groomed rail trail with two short sojourns off the rail trail to add a little spice and provide just enough challenge to offer a sense of accomplishment.​

Run across the trail that made the National Rails to Trails Conservancy’s top-ten list of most “iconic rail trails”. You will cross over the 146-year-old historic Rosendale Trestle bridge, sitting 150 feet above and extending 900 feet across the Rondout Creek. When it opened in 1872, it was the highest-span bridge in the United States. The race will take you along scenic lakes and through a "cave" at the Williams Lake Project. Come experience the dramatic scenery of the enchanting town of Rosendale that helped build the Brooklyn Bridge with its natural limestone cement.

All proceeds go to the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, whose mission is to improve, protect, and maintain the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail for public use and enjoyment. The event has a cap of 300 starters. Online registration $30.

Gender-specific t-shirts are guaranteed to all who register by September 22. There will be plentiful refreshments, raffle prizes, and unique awards in all standard 10-year age groups by Christopher Regan. The first 150 entrants will receive a commemorative race medal.

Morning Star's Run for Shelter 5K

Morning Star Christian Fellowship is sponsoring a 4th annual 5K run/walk with all proceeds going to support local area homeless shelters and Transformation Life Center (TLC). Come join us on Saturday morning, November 2, 2024, for this challenging 5K run/walk (walkers are welcome!!!).

The course winds through the neighborhood between East Chester and Foxhall Streets, taking ‘advantage’ of hills on both sides of Clifton Avenue (the ‘backbone’ of the course), and passing twice through Hutton Park. A scenic view of the Catskills is included.

The event will have special awards and prizes. T-shirts will be given to the first 75 registrants. Entry fee is $20 with option for additional donations. Last minute event day registration can be done in person between 8:00 – 8:45 am.

There is a virtual option for those who would like to participate but cannot attend. The virtual 5K can be run on the Run for Shelter course or any 5K distance between October 28 and November 3. Submit your time to wmaynard@hvc.rr.com by 8pm eastern time on Sunday, November 3. Note: ORC Grand Prix participants must run the in-person race.

ORC Bernie Stahl Mile

The Bernie Stahl Mile will be run this year on the Onteora High School (Bernie's home track) all-weather track in Boiceville, NY. The mile heats are grouped based on your predicted finish time. The heats are run from fastest to slowest. This format ensures everyone is in a competitive race based on their ability and eliminates getting lapped.

The day of registration begins at 5:45 pm. Everyone will line up at 6:15 pm to be (seeded) assigned a heat. The first heat (fastest) will start at approximately 6:40 p.m.

The awards are for the top Overall man and woman and the top three in each age group, starting with under 13, 14-19, and then ten-year age groups from 20-29 up to 80+. Typically, we have had 6-7 heats.

We will have short dash races on the infield turf at 6:30 p.m. for the youngest children. We have a nuclear family team division of 3 members that must include at least one child and one parent.

Online entry fees are $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 18 and under. Day of entries for adults will be $10 and $5 for youth 18 and under.

The children's dashes are free. There will be light refreshments.

Beer Mountain Challenge

Set on Upward Brewing Company’s 120-acre mountain plot in the Catskill Mountains, the Beer Mountain Challenge is a trail run with two distance options for runners – 2 mile and 4 mile. Appropriately dubbed, Beer Mountain peaks at 1,870 feet and is covered in a network of trails up, down and across the mountain – all located on Upward Brewing’s property!

The 2-mile option is one loop with 515 feet of elevation gain, and the 4-mile option is 2 loops with 1,030 feet of elevation gain.

Courses are a mix of foot trails (75%), rocky carriage path (25%) and grassy fields (5%). This is a super fun and technical course -- lots of rocks, loose rocks, roots, stumps, uneven footing, etc.

  • Each registrant receives a t-shirt, a custom finisher medal and a free craft beer at Upward Brewing’s bar!

  • Chip timed race

  • Ages 14+

  • No pets, no strollers

  • 2 miles (runners or walkers); 4 miles (runners only)​

  • Parking is available on site at the brewery!

Schedule:

  • All participants must arrive between 10am and 10:30am

  • 11:00am Start – both 2-mile and 4-mile participants will start at the same time.

  • 1:00pm End – course will close at 1:00pm and event ends.

This 15K race is both scenic and challenging. The course is an undulating route on country roads outside of Woodstock, NY. The race has great T-shirts, plentiful refreshments, and unique awards in all standard 10 year age groups. After the race, participants can visit the quirky Village of Woodstock or the trendy "new Brooklyn" of Kingston.

  • Pre-registration fee is $25. $20 for current ORC members.

  • $30 day of registration begins at 7:00 am at the race site.

  • T-shirts to the first 75 registrants.

  • Race starts at 8:00 am. Carpooling is encouraged.

This race is open to all, however, to be eligible for Grand Prix points, you must be a member of the ORC.

Then join us on Saturday, May 11th for something uniquely special, the 2nd Annual Fiddler's Bridge Half-Marathon and 5K hosted by Stringendo, a non-profit organization supporting children throughout the Hudson Valley to develop their interest and love of music.

NOTE: ONLY THE 5K IS PART OF THE GRAND PRIX SERIES

This run consists of a Half-Marathon, 5K and 1 mile fun run event that are unlike any event around! Not only will you be able to enjoy the landscape of the beautiful town of Clinton, experiencing its quiet country roads, but you will also experience the history of Fiddler's Bridge brought to you by Stringendo’s very own youth fiddle and orchestra musicians. They will be stationed throughout the course playing tunes dedicated to the legend of the ghost on Fiddler’s Bridge, in addition to many other familiar tunes to motivate your run and put the beat in your feet! It is truly a unique experience not to be missed!

  • All runs begin and end near the Town of Clinton Town Hall parking lot.

  • Short sleeve dry fit t-shirt guaranteed for registered runners by April 30, 2024.

  • Awards given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall male and female runners in both the Half-Marathon and 5K in addition to top three male and female runners in each age bracket.

Kiwanis Kingston Classic 10K

The Kiwanis Club of Kingston is proud to welcome you to the 40th running of the Kiwanis Kingston Classic. Once again, Kiwanis will host the Classic bringing the run back to the Kingston Community as a family-friendly run. This year's event will be held completely in Kingston's Rondout (historic waterfront) section.

NOTE: ONLY THE 10K IS PART OF THE GRAND PRIX SERIES

Once again, there will be a 10K, 5K, and a 1.5-mile walk/run. Join fellow runners for fun, camaraderie, and a great day, The event features a great post race party complete with food, beer, ice cream, and music. The Kingston Kiwanis Club offers a Book for Kids swag program, instead of giving each runner a finishers medal for each entrant the Kiwanis Club donated a book to a child. What could be better than an affordable well organized event with a great post-race party and books for children. There will be awards for all 3 races.

  • Start Time: The 10k and 5k go off together at 10am and the 1.5 mile at 10:15am

After the Leaves / Josh Feldt Memorial Half Marathon

After the park renovations and COVID-19 we are back at Lake Minnewaska for the second year in a row. This run is simply spectacular as we run around two pristine glacial lakes and along the Shawangunk Ridge which affords views into 5 states. We now have a much better staging area and improved parking. The groomed unpaved carriage trails of Minnewaska State Park Preserve are perfect for running. The Shawangunk Runners Club strives to keep running affordable for all and that explains the low entry fee of $25.

  • Registration is online only.

  • We have a max limit of 300 runners (please carpool and save money) the park charges a per-car parking fee of $10 not a per-person fee. This race typically sells out.

  • There are awards for the top 3 finishers and in all standard 10-year age groups, refreshments, and a finisher's gift for all finishers.

  • There is chip timing.

  • The race will go off at 11:30 am with packet/bib pickup beginning at 10:30 am. We must be off the trails by 2:15 pm so for people who can't meet the 2 hours and 45-minute race cut-off time we will have an early start time at 11 am - giving people an extra half hour to finish. If you can't reasonably finish with a time under 3:15 this race is not for you.

A rolling, rural 5-mile loop with a downhill to flat finish. This is a very scenic route passing by fields, orchards, and a vineyard and having great views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge.

Proceeds benefit the Shawangunk Valley Fire Company

Towpath Run 6K

The Towpath Run is a 6k Run/Walk. The walk goes off at 9 am and the run at 9:15 am. The course runs from the Alligerville Firehouse to the Community Center in the center of Accord on beautiful Towpath Road. This event benefits a free learning literacy program at the Community Center. The center is open to all children 6 and under. The course is point-to-point. You register at the Community Center in Accord and then are bused to the start. It’s a fun sociable way to meet the other participants. Pfalz Point Trail Challenge

The Pfalz Point Trail Challenge, a favorite local race, is a 10-mile benefit trail run to support Mohonk Preserve. Proceeds from 2023 race registration fees and sponsorships will support conservation of over 8,000 acres, including the restoration and maintenance of the Preserve’s network of 70 miles of carriage roads and trails that welcome hundreds of thousands of hikers, bikers, runners, climbers and equestrians annually.

The course offers a rare chance to race on some of the most extraordinary running trails in the U.S., with ten miles of broad open meadows with spectacular views, steep and rocky footpaths, and gently rolling carriage roads.

Registered participants will receive:

  • A great-looking Pfalz Point Trail Challenge T-shirt.

  • Post-race refreshments including healthy options.

  • Access to Mohonk Preserve for the day.

  • Satisfaction knowing you are helping Mohonk Preserve's mission.

Prizes are given to the top overall finishers by gender including a nonbinary category and to the top three finishers in ten year age categories.

Join us for the 20th annual event, with proceeds going towards the Benedictine Health Foundation, which helps cancer patients meet their basic financial needs in Ulster County.

There will be a time 5K and a bike ride (12, 25, or 50 miles). Take your pick!

The ORC/Ashokan Rail Trail 8 Miler

This will be the third year of the Ashokan Rail Trail (ART) 8 Miler. The race is run entirely on a well groomed unpaved carriage path that parallels the beautiful Ashokan Reservoir in Ulster County. It starts and finishes at the Woodstock Dike Trailhead of the ART.

  • Parking (free) is limited so we have a cap of 100 participants and carpooling is strongly urged/needed.

  • There will awards for the first man and woman overall and the top 3 in all standard age groups and a commemorative item for the first 100 registrants.

  • There is an 8 am race start to beat the heat!

This event will be Race #7 of the Onteora Runners Club 2023 Grand Prix.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Woodstock Land Conservancy.

Join us for 5 beautiful races this summer across Mohonk Preserve, Minnewaska State Park Preserve, and the Wallkill Valley Rail Rail. Registrants receive entry to all 5 races for a very reasonable price!

Pricing

  • Family (up to 4): $40

  • Individual: $25

  • Child/high school/college: $10

  • Shawangunk Runners Member: FREE (The discount is available via the club race calendar in the membership portal. You must log in and click on the race listed in the calendar to get the discount applied when you register.)


  • All registrants will receive a weekly informational email with parking, course map/directions, and other pertinent details.

  • Light refreshments of watermelon and cookies at each race

Awards/Points

  • Top age-group finishers in each in-person race will score 6 points

  • Points will be awarded in descending order (5,4,3,2)

  • All finishers will score at least 1 point each race.

  • Participants choosing the hybrid model will score 1 point for each course they complete

  • Highest totals win at the end of the series.

  • All participants scoring at least 4 points and finishing a minimum of 2 races will receive handmade ceramic awards made by Solveig Comer of Most Precious Pottery.

Schedule

Note that all races at Minnewaska State Park Preserve have a $10/car entrance fee. This is waived for holders of an Empire Pass. For all races, carpooling is recommended!
